My name is Rohan, and today is Halloween! I'm wearing my favorite robot costume with blue and silver parts. Amma and I have a big bowl of candy ready by the front door because trick-or-treaters will come to our house tonight to get treats.
Amma explains that trick-or-treaters are children and families who come to our door wearing costumes. They knock on the door or ring the doorbell because they want to ask for candy. When I hear the doorbell or knocking, it means someone is here to celebrate Halloween with us.
Soon, I hear the doorbell ring! DING-DONG! The sound is loud because it needs to be loud so we can hear it from inside the house. This is normal on Halloween night, and it means someone is at the door ready to trick-or-treat.
I open the door and see a child dressed as a superhero! They smile and say 'Trick or treat!' I put some candy in their bag because that's what we do on Halloween. After they leave, I feel proud because I helped them have a good Halloween.
More trick-or-treaters come! Some ring the doorbell, and some knock on the door with their knuckles. Knock-knock-knock! Both the doorbell and knocking mean the same thing—someone wants candy. I'm getting ready each time, and it's becoming easier.
By the end of the night, many trick-or-treaters have come to our door. I learned that the doorbell and knocking are happy sounds on Halloween because they bring new friends to visit. I gave out candy and helped make their Halloween special, just like my robot costume helped make mine special.
