Today is Halloween! Fatima helped me put on my dinosaur costume. The costume is made of soft green and orange fabric. I can feel it on my skin.
I smell something sweet when I put my face near the costume fabric. The fabric smells like the store where Fatima bought it. The smell is not bad—it is just different from my regular clothes.
The costume feels smooth in some places and bumpy in other places. The bumpy parts are the dinosaur spikes on the back. When I move, the fabric swishes and moves with me.
Fatima opens a window because the costume makes my body feel warm, and cool air helps my temperature go down so I feel comfortable. Fresh air comes inside and brings a new smell—the smell of outside. This smell is different from the costume smell.
I take a big breath in through my nose for 4 counts, hold it for 2 counts, and breathe out slowly for 6 counts. I smell the grass and the cool evening air. These smells help my nervous system relax so I feel ready to go trick-or-treating.
My dinosaur costume feels like part of me now. The different smells and textures are all part of being a dinosaur today. I am ready to go trick-or-treating with Fatima!
