Tonight is Halloween! I am wearing my orange pumpkin costume. Mommy and I have a big bowl of candy sitting by our front door. We are getting ready for trick-or-treaters to visit our house.
Trick-or-treaters are children who come to houses on Halloween because they want to collect candy. Soon, children will come to our door. They will ring the doorbell or knock on the door to let us know they are here.
DING-DONG! The doorbell rings! I hear the sound because someone is pressing the button outside. Mommy opens the door, and I see children in costumes standing on our porch.
One child is dressed like a superhero. Another child is dressed like a pirate. They are holding bags and buckets because they are collecting candy. They say, 'Trick or treat!'
Mommy hands me a scoop. I reach into the candy bowl and scoop out candy pieces. Then I drop the candy into each child's bag because they are collecting treats for Halloween.
I give candy to the superhero. I give candy to the pirate. I give candy to the fairy. They say, 'Thank you!' and walk down the steps to visit the next house.
KNOCK-KNOCK-KNOCK! More trick-or-treaters are at the door! I scoop more candy and drop it into their bags. I am helping make Halloween fun for all the children in my neighborhood.
More children come. I give out candy again and again. My bowl is getting empty because so many children are visiting. I feel proud helping them celebrate Halloween.
