Today is Halloween! I am wearing my dinosaur costume with a long tail and spikes on my hood. Dad and I are going to walk around our neighborhood to trick-or-treat. I have my dinosaur bucket ready to collect candy.
Dad and I walk down our sidewalk together. Dad holds my hand because holding hands keeps us together and safe. The neighborhood looks different at night with all the Halloween decorations glowing.
We come to the first house. Dad and I walk up to the door together. I ring the doorbell because the doorbell tells the people inside that someone is here.
A neighbor opens the door. She says, 'What a great dinosaur!' I say, 'Trick or treat!' because that is what we say when we visit houses on Halloween. The neighbor puts candy in my bucket.
We walk to more houses. Dad always stays right beside me. When we talk to people at their doors, they are our neighbors who live on our street. They are kind people who enjoy seeing children on Halloween.
My dinosaur bucket is getting full of candy! Dad reminds me to stay close to him because staying close keeps me safe. We will trick-or-treat for a little while longer, and then we will go home.
We walk back home together. Dad and I had a great Halloween! I collected lots of candy, and I stayed safe because I stayed close to Dad the whole time. Tomorrow we can look at all my candy together.
