Social Story Methodology
Why This Story Works
"Wearing My Mask" uses Carol Gray's concrete, visual approach to help children understand both the *how* and the *why* of mask-wearing in a single narrative. For children with autism or anxiety, this story demystifies a potentially confusing health routine by pairing sensory reassurance ("It feels soft on my face. I can still breathe") with clear cause-and-effect reasoning (wearing a mask keeps friends healthy), reducing resistance and building intrinsic motivation rather than compliance through fear.
